Sodium thiocyanate, NaCNS

The Sodium thiocyanate, NaCNS, can be prepared by the action of sodium carbonate on thiocyanic acid or ammonium thiocyanate, or by fusion of potassium ferrocyanide with anhydrous sodium thiosulphate.

The anhydrous salt forms very deliquescent, rhombic plates, its heat of solution being 39.2 Cal. With sulphurous acid it yields complex derivatives.
