Sodium dihydrophosphide, NaPH2
Sodium dihydrophosphide, NaPH2, is a white substance formed by treating a solution of sodium in liquid ammonia with phosphine, and evaporating the ammonia. Trisodium phosphide, Na3P, is produced simultaneously. The mixture reacts with water, evolving phosphine.
